With its restored pioneer village, caves,
grist mill, and Virgil Gus Grissom Memorial Museum, entering
Spring Mill State Park is like going back in a time machine
to the 1800's. Demonstrations in weaving, iron working and
other pioneer crafts are given throughout the park.
Not only is Spring Mill rich in history, it
is also home to many natural wonders. Inside Donaldson Cave,
lies endangered northern blind cave fish. Whitetail deer,
coyote, red and gray fox, raccoon, skunks, wild turkey, great
blue herons, kingfishers, prairie grasses, underground streams,
and wood ducks also occupy the area. One could spend the
night in the beautiful inn or in the campground. Hike one
of the 8 trails in the park. Enjoy a picnic at one of the
many picnic areas or shelters. fish on the lake, visit the
nature center, or enjoy a dip in the swimming pool.
