A former Jasonville resident and good friend of mine needs our help. Many of you may remember Angie (Burris) Farrell, that smiling face that used to greet residents with her friendly personality at the Rexall Drug Store. Angie was also a member of the Shakamak Middle and High School Drill Team, a member of the National Honor Society, former Homecoming Queen among other accomplishments. She graduated in 1986 and worked at the Rexall Drug Store throughout high school. She received a degree from ISU and is working in a nursing home doing what she does best, helping others. Her son was diagnosed with Autism a few years ago and she will be participating in a walk a thon for Autism Research and is looking for donations. The Piankeshaw Trails Educational Park will be moving their program to Shakamak State Park in Jasonville, from Solsberry, as a 9 month trial. We would like to welcome them to the area and look forward to the knowledge of the Native American heritage that they will bring with them. The Piankeshaw Educational Park holds various education programs and demonstrations for students,  groups and the public on Native American topics.

Director Sheryl Hartman is planning an event called School of the Native: A Journey Through Time, from April 25th to April 27th. Updates on the event will be provided on GoJasonville as soon as they are available.

Many of you may know Michael McNabb, a former resident of Jasonville and graduate of Shakamak High School. Michael made a short appearance and small speaking part in the movie Transformers, which is available now on DVD. 

A big round of applause to Michael for a stellar performance. Congratulations! It's not everyday we see a local resident from our small town on a popular movie such as this.

Author of the book Dark Friday, Jeffrey Leever, visited a Kansas City, Missouri book store for a book signing. Jeffrey Leevers book is a mystery novel for which Jasonville, Indiana was the inspiration. Rita Richards, Ron Richards, and Leona Richards, past and present residents of Jasonville, had the pleasure of attending the book signing and enjoyed speaking to the author about Jasonville.

Jeffrey Leever will be in Jasonville for a book signing on December 1st at the Jasonville library from 1-4 pm in which books will also be for sale.

Dark Friday A killer is on the loose in a small Indiana town; five high school students are dead, one is in critical condition, and the police chief is wounded. When the chief teams up with a once-respected journalist, they find that the motivation for these crimes is more disturbing that anyone could have ever imagined.

Many of you may remember a resident by the name of Ron Richards. Ron was a 1977 graduate from Shakamak High School and has since moved to Missouri in 1993.

Mr Richards states, "I put the family photo on the back of the cd because they were my inspiration of all my Original Music on the cd. Although there isn't any singing with this, each song that I wrote has special meaning to me. There are also some tunes from the 50's and 70's on it. This an acoustic guitar solo album. I learned to play fingerstyle guitar by Derell Blake who still currently lives in Dugger, In. I met up with Derrell again a couple of years ago and we had a great reunion."
