Hello To All

teddfox's picture

Just want to give an update for the first post.  You can keep up with me on a regular basis on my personal blog. http://web.mac.com/teddfox1  . My blog focuses on Macintosh computers, but I throw alot of personal information there.  I have not been to Indian since 1999 due to hectic schedules and my family has moved away.  I plan on taking my wife there to show her the area.  I am glad to see the little town has finally gotten a real online presence.  THis site helps keep me up to date as much as possible.  I will be glad to join the forum so we all can chit chat also.  Talk to you soon....Tedd

Awwww

Your Lhasa Apso looks just like our Shih Tzus. We have 4 Shih Tzus and a cat that I rescued. You can see millions of pics of my Shih Tzus on http://www.gojasonville.com/shih-tzu/index.php I believe I read somewhere where the Shih Tzus originated by mixing the Tibetan Mountain Dog, Pekingese and/or Lhasa Apso. We may be giving away one of our adult shih tzus puppies next week :(. He is over a year old and I'm very attached but it is so hard to take care of all of them and work so much. It will be going to a good home though with young kids. It loves to play ball so they will be able to give it more of the needed attention. I think he will be happy to go to such a good home.

My "kids"

If you go to my web page http://web.mac.com/teddfox1 you can click on the kids tab and see my 3 kids. we have CoCo-a male white mini toy poodle, Farah-a female black mini toy poodle, and our brand new edition iDog Mac - a female Lhasa Apso. We just call her Mac...I rescued her last week.

Nice to hear from you

It's always great to hear what the alumni are up to.

Wow teenager and toddler bet that keeps you busy. Smile I only have one daughter Kiersten and she will be 19 soon. And my boyfriend has a son but he is in New Mexico right now. Not enough excitement around here for him LOL. Well, if you are used to a big city then Jasonville might seem rather dull, but for older people like me I enjoy the peace and quiet and the lower cost of living in a small town. Living in big cities most of his life, my boyfriend says Jasonville is like camping everyday hehehe.

Pictures cool, sure send me some pics. I will send you my email address. You can also join the photo gallery and post them there if you want. I'm sure fellow classmates would like to see pics too...

We need more interaction on here. Don't you think? It will be fun hearing what everyone is up to now days. Help us spread the word. Plus if you get people to join you earn reward points and we have plans for some pretty cool rewards. The rewards are coming soon. Just have to fit in the time to get it organized. Hmmm No I didn't get the email

I didn't get the email but I will check my spam folder and see if it went in there. She is still at Vincennes University and is willing to move anywhere for a job when she gets out. I will tell her. That's awesome. She really wants to work in an urban school as she was wanting to go into teen psychology but figured it would be hard to get a job in that field. She is still deciding whether she wants to go into elementary education or English Lit as she had originally planned. If she goes into english lit she will have to change colleges after her 2nd year. If she goes into Elementary Ed she will be able to stay at Vincennes. She is going to work at Disney World for 7 months this summer as an internship where she will get college credit. She is very excited about that. It's a pretty cool program. She will have to pay for room and board but they provide free transportation and she will be taking her classes online and also attend classes at Disney World. They pay her for working there and she will be rooming with others students from all over the world. She will be there from May to January but I'm sure she would love to visit your school when she gets back. She went through the teachers aid program at Shakamak and worked with Mrs. Eccles and loved it.

Welcome

Hi Ted... Welcome to the GoJasonville blog Cool

Jim's company does ALOT of

Jim's company does ALOT of different services.  THe thing is that they focus on the enterprise mostly.  THey have teams of people that go into a company and do their thing. He loves the job and is a born leader and the team he works with is awesome.

Macs are great for gaming.  especially with the new intel based machines.  You can dual boot with Mac and Winders. THis way you can migrate slowly if you choose.  I am not a gamer, but I know quite a few and they LOVE the mac for gaming.  THe cost os not longer an issue. I am typing this on a $999 Macbook I just got last week (makes #23 for me :-))

As far a s schooling: PHP, MySQL, and Apache are the "in" thing to do since they are open source.  Linux/ Unix experience is hot.  BTW Macs are Unix :-)  Flash is AWESOME for sites.  for search engine issues,  just modify the metadata to add the keywords you want.  Luckily, the technologies you want to learn are free :-)  you can go to web monkey and get lots of information to get you going on all of that.  I always end up cracking open a book or two if I want to learn something new.  I am not much of a web programmer anymore (as you can tell by my site).  but a big part of my job is researching all kinds of technology, so I have to have a good working knowledge.

You can login forum now...

I checked the forum and for some reason you were listed as inactive. I fixed it so you should be able to login now. Sorry about that. The activation email may have went to my not so trusty spam folder.

The bad thing is that since we started this social networking section after the forum, chat, guestbook etc were finished, they all use seperate databases. Each user has to create an account for each seperate section. I don't like using CMS scripts, which is what we are using for this section, but it is the easiest way without having to write a whole new script. I could switch everything over to this, bridge the different scripts, or combine the databases, and that may be an option in the future as time allows, but wow that would be a chore. Or we could have joined a network that is already done like Ning, but I like to design my own pages, learn new skills, and put my own little touches into it. GoJasonville is over 150 pages not including all the externals like the forum, guestbook, chat, classifieds, etc. If you know anyone with advice on this I would like to know the easiest way to integrate the scripts into one database. Depending on the interaction we get here will depend on how much time I put into it. I don't want to integrate the GoJasonville html pages into the cms script, as those took forever to complete. Just the php scripts.

Sounds like Jim and Whitney are doing outstanding. My daughter is at Vincennes University and is majoring in English Literature or Elementary Education. She wants to teach in an urban area. Originally she was going to go into teen psychology to help inner city kids. What grade does Whitney teach? I worry about my daughter being able to find a job in education, but she is willing to move out of Indiana so hopefully she will find a job when she graduates.

Jim's company looks interesting and very important. Network security is big business. We could use your brothers expertise here. Security is definately important that's for sure. Do they analyze web scripts and such? From the info on their website it sounded like they do but wow there is a lot of info on there.

The main problem I have with MacIntosh is software cost and availablity, although I haven't researched lately I have noticed in the past that software for Mac is pretty costly. I would say there is probably a lot more availablity and that probably isn't so much an issue now. How are Mac's for gaming? Not that I am into gaming much, except for an occassional game of Sims or Roller Coaster Tycoon (I like to build and design things), my boyfriend is the gamer in the house. I was looking at MacIntosh Notebooks a few months ago, since we are in need of a notebook.  So they are pretty easy to use?

When I was in college Windows wasn't even around. I graduated with a degree in Parks and Recreation Management, but make more money in a factory than in my field. Now my goal is to someday go back to school for a minor in web design, although I have taught myself pretty much all I know I always want to learn more. I would like to study PHP, advanced css, and Flash although Flash is horrible for search engine optimization it is eye candy. I know some but would like to learn a whole lot more. Ivan is better at that stuff than me so I just yell at him to help me for now ;). Well gotta go for now, I'm working on putting together some more content people can add to their MyGoJasonville page.

update

Jim lives in DC and has a place in Atlanta and Bangalore, India.  He is the CEO and President of Vigilar (http://www.vigilar.com) he is a 24/7 executive :-)  He has a wife and 2 beautiful daughters now.  He and I talk on a weekly basis.  Whitney lives in the Indy area with her hubby and daughter.  She has been teaching there going on 18 years.

Leslie is deeply missed in our Family.  She was the glue that kept us all together for years.  I miss her and wish I could call her sometimes.  She would be proud I think.  I am glad there is this blog for alum and such.  Are the forums not working?  it says my account is inactive or something like that.  OR did this takje the place of it?

Macintosh is not a learning curve so to speak.  You will turn one on and then go, "I knew there was a better way"  It does what you want it to and how you want it to.  I converted in 2000 and have never looked back.  I have been evangelizing Macintosh since.  Now it is my goal to be THE authority on Macintosh and the enterprise.

Nice to hear from you Tedd

MacIntosh huh? We have 5 Windows pc's and I have never really worked with Mac. Although, my sister Stacy works with Macs for graphic design, so I will let her know about your website.  I always have wanted one but figure I'd have to teach myself all over again.

I remember serving you cherry cokes in the drugstore, or didn't you get Cherry 7ups? Well, that was years ago and my memory is fading LOL. Angie would probably remember better than me Wink My fave was always the chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow cokes. I do remember that. Yum!

How's Whitney and Jim? Sorry to hear about Leslie. I think I was living in Bloomington when she had her accident. We were in cheerleading together in middle school and Angie, Leslie, and me won the talent show in 7th grade. Those were the good ole days :).

Yes, you should bring your wife here. We have a lot of things happening July 12-20th for the 150th Anniversary Celebration. Fireworks, Wagon Train Trail Ride, Beard Growing Contest, Parade, and more. We hope to have all the events posted soon.

Well, we hope to keep everyone up to date on the website, but our staff has full time jobs along with running this website, so it's not always possible to get information up in a timely manner. We are hoping that this new social networking section will start some interaction and submissions so we don't have to do all the leg work. So spread the word.

If you have any suggestions feel free to contact us. Well, gotta go for now. Oh and thanks for joining.

Michelle
